The John F. Kennedy Medical Center is to
shortly receive a new ambulance in anticipation of the set –up of Liberia ’s
first modernized public emergency response unit in several decades. The
emergency response vehicle was recently purchased by the Mike Mueller Charities
(MMC) in collaboration with the Coalition of Concerned Liberians (CCL),
the European Federation of Liberian
Associations (ELFA), and Board Members of MMC.
The ambulance is expected to be formally delivered to the
Liberian government in mid November at a special ceremony involving key
officials of the Liberian government including President Ellen Sirleaf and Vice
President Joseph N. Boakai. The new emergency unit is among
the second in a series of other planned donations earmarked in a
comprehensive aid package promised together last April by the MMC board for
Liberia's reconstruction.
MMC’s first project was the renovation of the Monrovia
Demonstration School which was completed last June.
Additionally, it was noted that prior to delivery of the emergency unit,
the J.F. K Medical Center is expected to complete a plan of action and
Memorandum of Understanding which will confirm the set up of an emergency
response unit and efficient management of the vehicle.
The recent gift to the improvement of Liberia ’s depleted
healthcare delivery system comes barely six months after a recent visit to
Monrovia by MMC Chairman Michael Mueller and other Board Members of the Charity,
including ELFA President Elvis Morris, and CCL Chairman John F. Lloyd. During
their April visit to Liberia, the leaders held talks with top officials of the
Liberian government including Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, and Senate
President Pro-Tempore Cletus Wotorson who accepted their offer to partner with
the government in the rebuilding process through aid to education and
healthcare.
Mike Mueller Charities (“MMC”) will be the sponsor of an event celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Center of Women & Children Empowerment in Liberia. This event will be held from November 19th to the 22nd. During this event, MMC will host a two (2) days workshop with emphasis on the following topics:
